A leading global law firm in Brussels is seeking an experienced international trade lawyer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the field of international trade law, and will be able to provide strategic and technical advice to clients on a wide range of trade-related matters.
The firm consists of over 2.500 lawyers and are present in over 40 offices worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Advice on full range of trade matters including trade policy, legislation, compliance and enforcement, litigation before the European Courts, and administrative proceedings before the European Commission. Clients rely on the International Trade and Investment group to handle issues such as export and import controls, economic sanctions, anti-corruption, foreign direct investment, trade agreement negotiations, and anti-dumping and subsidy cases.
- Project management responsibility, ensuring timely delivery to high
quality standards - Awareness of legal developments affecting any specialist areas and
regularly attends appropriate training sessions - Good working relationships with clients
- Good understanding of client, the sector and the associated risks
and opportunities. - Actively work on developing and strengthening new client relationships
- Act as a source of advice to others, sharing knowledge and expertise
- Ability to manage, develop and lead more junior members of a
team. - Ability to work effectively with others.
Profile
- Around 7 years of post qualified experience (or equivalent experience)
- Strong knowledge of EU trade law
- Strong academic background.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, additional languages are a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
